Ideas
for your Garden Decor
We
like to spend our free time outdoors when the weather is nice. We
can enhance our time outdoors by decorating our garden with some
colorful and relaxing items to create a beautiful setting just
outside our home.
There are so many things we can do to create color in our garden and
other outdoor areas. A white fence or gate will set off bright,
colorful flowers or those with soft pastel hues. Picture a white
picket fence among a colorful garden of flowers. This will generate
a sense of beauty and pleasure as we sit and enjoy the outdoors
while sipping our lemonade or iced tea during those warm summer
evenings. For added comfort and enjoyment, you can decorate your
seating areas with beautiful quilts and throw pillows that enhance
the colors in our garden.
You can also utilize various textures to add to the appeal of your
garden. You can place various baskets of fruit or flowers on your
patio or on a glass-topped table. Stepping stones of rough
fieldstone can flow through walking areas amidst rows of colorful
flowers and shrubs. Another special feature is a porch swing. It can
be placed on a porch overlooking the sweet-smelling flowers or out
in the garden among the flowers. Either way you will be able to
relax and swing while absorbing the fragrant odor of your beautiful
flowers. Colorful chaise lounges with side tables to hold your
beverages add to the relaxing atmosphere of your garden.
Imagine a wooden gazebo strewn with colorful, fragrant roses as a
focal point of your beautiful garden. You can add potted plants at
special places among the stepping stones or patio. Add ornaments of
bronze, gold or bright or pastel colors throughout the area. Other
fun objects such as butterflies, angels and baby animals, bird baths
and small benches add a special touch as well.
Just use your imagination to become as creative as you can. For
example an antique claw foot bathtub found at a recycling center or
junk yard can be made into a fountain in your own backyard. You can
equip it with plants such as ferns or ivy and turn on the water for
your very own waterfall. Something so simple and inexpensive can
transform your garden into a lush tropical or wooded environment.
Other ideas to enhance your garden are old rocking chairs,
stepladders, buckets, watering cans, clay pots or animal figurines.
You can paint an old rocking chair with weather resistant paint and
add cushions for color and comfort. Stepladders can be painted to
hold various plants and clay pots can be decorated with the colors
and designs of your choice. The possibilities are endless if you
just put your imagination to work.
If you work with inexpensive items, you don't have to worry about
ruining them, and if you don't like something, just change it. All
it takes is a little imagination, nice plants, some colorful paint
and materials and "Viola" you have transformed your garden into a
colorful paradise.
